When are you allowed to burst crackers?

Across most of India the Supreme Court permits only certified green crackers, burst within a two-hour window on Diwali night (commonly 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM). Some states set their own hours — Tamil Nadu allows two windows (early morning and evening), and Delhi-NCR has had full bans relaxed only for tightly-controlled green crackers. Pick your state above for the specifics.

A silence zone of 100 metres around hospitals, schools, courts and religious places applies everywhere. These rules change every season and can differ by city or district — this is a general guide (last reviewed October 2025); always confirm your local police or pollution-board notification before bursting.
