Green Crackers in Hubli

Green crackers exist because of one specific legal decision, and Hubli's entire catalogue is built around it.

Two national orders set the floor here. Supreme Court, 23 Oct 2018 (WP(C) 728/2015): permitted manufacture/sale of green crackers, banned barium-salt and joined crackers, limited Diwali bursting to a ~2-hour window (commonly 8–10 PM). The CSIR-NEERI green formulations were developed to meet that Supreme Court standard: they replace barium salts with less-polluting oxidisers, cut particulate and gas emissions by roughly 30% against conventional crackers, and generally run quieter, though not silent. On top of the national floor, the Karnataka government has in recent years directed district administrations, including Dharwad's, to hold bursting to a fixed two-hour evening window and told local civic bodies to act against sellers or bursters who go outside it (Times of India). None of that is a Hubballi-Dharwad-specific rule, it is the statewide floor this city sits inside, so treat it as the season's likely pattern and confirm the 2026 notification from the Hubli city police or the Karnataka pollution control board before bursting night.
