Diwali Crackers in Thrissur

Kerala fixes the Diwali window rather than leaving it open-ended: the state has notified 8 PM to 10 PM for Deepavali bursting, and separately 11:55 PM to 12:30 AM for Christmas and New Year, both restricted to green-certified stock (Kerala Kaumudi). That fixed slot applies across the district the same way it does everywhere in Kerala, including inside Thrissur town where Pooram's much larger vedikettu display is a separate, professionally licensed event and not a template for a household Diwali evening.

Two national orders set the floor here. Supreme Court, 23 Oct 2018 (WP(C) 728/2015): permitted manufacture/sale of green crackers, banned barium-salt and joined crackers, limited Diwali bursting to a ~2-hour window (commonly 8–10 PM). Because the legal window is two hours rather than a full evening, the order itself matters more here than it would somewhere with a longer stretch to work with. A carton that lands the morning of Diwali leaves no room for a missed courier call, and the road lane from the Sivakasi belt has no air-freight shortcut if that happens. Demand around Thrissur's trading quarter concentrates hard in the run-up to Dhanteras and Diwali, since the same shoppers moving through East Fort for gold also tend to pick up crackers on the way, and popular aerial categories and gift boxes sell down faster in that final stretch than they do across Onam's steadier ten-day spread.
